Recently I was reading a book about wellness. I was shocked to see them say, “Don’t let meditation’s mystical associations spook you.” They went on to explain that they were recommending 10-20 minutes of meditation as a daily tool for getting more meaning and joy in the readers’ lives.
Why was I shocked?
It just made me realise that meditation (or could that be contemplation? – see the above orange panel*) is most certainly a mystical experience for me, and I hope you’ve found that too, and, if not, that you’ll definitely discover that after reading my stories and descriptions of tools and techniques.
My hope for you is to experience that connecting with Spirit in a meditative way is very mystical, and sometimes it feels magical, tingly, and/or as though there are big energetic arms to hold you.
Do you see, hear or feel?
Depending on your own learning style, and perhaps your experience, you may actually see other beings, or other worlds, in your mind’s eye. Or you may hear a whispered instruction. Or you may suddenly know you are meant to take a certain course of action.
I’m usually better at feeling and also getting an ‘aha’ or two, but, notwithstanding that, there are times when I do 'see', and then I’m nearly blown away by the experience. While writing my book (here's a link where you can see more about it and then buy it at 30% discount if you like), I was explaining in the preface that people resonate with whatever form is important to them, e.g., a Native American guide, an Indian guru, Mother Mary, etc., and then I flippantly said, “and I’d go so far as to say that, if you strike up a dialogue with an angel, and s/he feels amusing and droll, say, you could picture this creature like Sesame Street’s Big Bird, as far as Spirit cares, and that’s what it will look like for you.”
Stunned by what I saw in my mind's eye
Then much later, on page 76, I related a meditative experience I’d had where I was stunned and a bit overwhelmed to see a row of golden angels – very tall and winged. That was enough – very goose-bumpy. However, I scanned to the end of the row of angels and the last one I saw was Big Bird! I burst out laughing and crying at once with that, because I knew that my inner world was noticed by Spirit, and that Spirit has a sense of humour.
From my experience, these sorts of happenings don’t come around very often, but, when they do, the presence of the nurturing, guiding and, above all, loving energy is very obvious.
