A spiritual understanding of some ‘hairy’ questions that might be bothering you

I'm a bit 'long in the tooth' you know, but it does give me some advantages. I've been exploring spiritual growth for over 50 years!!! Yeah, I know – no further comments needed, but LOL permitted. ;-)

Gossip

Hmmm... it's so juicy isn't it?!? Makes us feel better about ourselves perhaps, but that's short-lived. Actually, I'm pretty sure that it creates more karma for the gossiper. And the hapless victim of our gossip must be so hurt by it, even if they don't know it.

So, whether you can go along with the idea of karma or not, if you're an Aspie you'll have experienced the effects of gossip as a kid at school, struggling with something that the other kids could get easily.

Righteous anger

There’s no distinction can be made between so-called righteous anger and ordinary, everyday anger. They both create karma and harm the giver and the receiver. When we entertain righteous anger, it keeps us so busy arguing for what we see as right, sending out emails, and commenting on social media, that our distraction hinders our soul development.

Abortion

After many years of tossing this subject around, and so much reading up on it, I've come to the understanding that life begins when the soul comes to the body at the first breath, and therefore the human is not viable until then. Therefore, it’s up to the individual to make their own choice.

Same-sex marriage

I've come to understand that love of all creatures is what we humans experience as a primer for knowing about God's love for us. It's all good!

Misuse of power

It's so tempting to get cross with the powers-that-be, and politicians who are making what we can see are foolish decisions. But it's better for our own development – and karma – to practise acceptance instead.

Let's face it, you are probably a lot more evolved than some of these dudes. But having a high emotional quotient does not mean you want to enter politics. You've got your own path to tread, whatever it may be.

This is where we need a big dose of 'isness' and acceptance. You can read more about 'isness' in my blog about Pooh Bear, plus acceptance is one of the modules in the advanced courses that I teach.

Here are the topics covered

  • Gossip
  • Righteous anger
  • Abortion
  • Same sex marriage
  • Misuse of power
  • Freedom and free will
  • Salvation
  • Where does Lady Luck fit in?

Freedom and free will

Freedom is one of my drivers. I think it's everyone's right to be free to express themselves as they wish.

But free will is a little different, and we often wonder if God has given us free will, or if everything is pre-ordained. Of course I have no way to prove my point of view, but again, from so many years of experience and trial and error, I think that:

  • everything happens for a reason,
  • all the very big steps have been pre-ordained, and
  • we are free to choose all the little steps in between.

Think of your vehicle's navigation device. It's heading for your destination along its notion of the best route. However, you know a little shortcut, or you want to deviate to pick up something from the store. So you stop following the instructions for a tad. It quickly recalibrates. Same-same for the Universe (AKA the Godforce).

Salvation

Meh! I reckon the concept of sin might have been used / invented / manipulated by mainstream religion to keep the unruly flock (us) contained. And I think the concept of karma holds more water. So, if we know we have to eventually learn a certain lesson – maybe even in a later life – we might be more inclined to toe the line this time. We certainly don't need saving, as we are really a soul with a body and the soul was never lost. We are always cherished by the Godforce. Think of loving parents, if you can, and you'll see that we don't need saving.

Where does Lady Luck fit in?

If luck were truly possible, it would be more powerful than the Godforce. It would cease to be the 'Big G', the creator, the almighty, and so on!

I’m always optimistic that you have a beautiful, bold personality that may be hidden under a cloak of low self-worth, ‘not-enoughness’, or other hidden self-sabotaging stories. What's more, I’ve experienced that these stories also cloak us from connecting personally with God. Over the years, and as a result of exploring and studying spiritual paths, I’ve developed my own connection with Spirit.

Some people want you to be cured of Asperger’s. Not me. I want you to love it, love yourself, and relish your strengths and uniqueness. Sounds hard, but in my courses we start with simple steps for you to ultimately reach a state of self-compassion.
